A Pumpkin for Our Little Pumpkin

This past weekend we took Caroline on her first pumpkin picking adventure! This is a tradition that Jim and I have had since before we were married. To be honest, I always felt a little silly when the two of us would be sitting on the hayride with a bunch of parents and their children. Don't get me wrong, I have always enjoyed the hayride, the corn maze, and picking out our perfect pumpkin (or three!) but always looked forward to bringing our own child one day.
While gallavanting among the countless pumpkins, we encountered a nice couple and their adorable daughter who was 19 months old. It turns out that their daughter was born the day after Caroline the previous year. It really got me thinking about how next year's pumpkin picking trip will be and how Caroline will be walking and talking. Our pumpkin picking tradition will become all that more special as the years continue! I also came to the conclusion that we left (and came!) with the best little pumpkin!

  1. Carly,

Enjoy these moments. Pumpkin picking has always been one of my favorite things to do since I was a kid. So once I had Summer I got to do it all over again through a new perspective. Each year is a new and better experience than the one before.Even now that Summer is 12, we both can't wait to get out there and out do each other w/ picking the best and biggest pumpkin.
The real fun begins when they can start to help w/ the carving of them. I'll never forget Summers initial response to seeing and feeling the pumpkin guts for the first time.I laughed so hard I almost pee'd my pants. So enjoy! I am so happy for you and Jim. I would love to meet Caroline. We will have to get together for dinner at our house one of these days if you and Jim would like!

  2. Caroline will grow so quickly so enjoy every minute you can with her! We used to take our three kids to Mack's Apples every Fall and now that they are grown, they take their kids there also. It is nice to establish traditions within families. Enjoy!!
